The Mutoh printer range for water-based inks – available in widths from 1080 mm (42”) up to 2600 mm (102,36”) is targeted at businesses focusing on the production of high-quality graphics for indoor and short term outdoor use. For regular poster printing applications on a wide range of coated substrates, the printers can be loaded with water-based dye or pigmented inks. For soft sign applications, the printers can be loaded with Mutoh disperse dye sublimation inks. Mutoh provides turnkey solutions including printer, inks, software and after treatment equipment – all you need to make a flying start into dye sublimation.

In dye sublimation printing, images are printed in reverse onto transfer paper. After printing, a heat press or calender fixes the images onto polyester-based textiles. The heat process bonds the images permanently into the fabric. Colours are bright and vibrant. Outputs are durable & washable. Importantly, unlike other inkjet technologies, the sublimation process does not affect the handling and feel of the material.	Using Mutoh’s water-based dye sublimation inks and easily available uncoated recyclable polyester-based materials means there is no need for forced ventilation, as the inks are free from harmful VOCs and hazardous components. The prints are also odourless. Soft signage is much easier to pack & ship which reduces transport costs, as it folds easily to reduce space and is of course extremely lightweight. An important plus is that soft signage can be washed (if necessary) and re-used with no fade.	Water-based dye sub inks, available in bulk bottles, will enable you to lower your cost per copy. Paper prints are produced faster, which increases your productivity. You work with uncoated low-cost readily available polyester fabrics. Plus you offer a higher end luxurious product with premium appearance, touch and feel, which can be sold at a higher price compared to regular vinyl, paper and banner prints.

Mutoh's UniFixer 65 heat transfer calender will heat transfer your dye sublimation prints from paper to fabric, or heat fix your pre-printed fabrics. Offering a working width of 1700 mm, the calender is ideal for short run and larger run production of indoor and outdoor banners & flags, promotional apparel, decorative fabrics, etc …

Compatible with Mutoh’s entire range of dye sublimation and direct textile printers up to 65”, the UniFixer 65 can be used for the sublimation process of Mutoh dye sublimation inks as well as for the heat fixation of Mutoh direct disperse type inks.

With the optional table for the Mutoh UniFixer roll-to-roll heat transfer calender (UNI-TABLE), it is possible to load pre-cut sheets or pre-cut pieces.

Features

1440 nozzle Piezo Print Head

The DrafStation RJ-900XG printer incorporates a high end drop on demand variable drop print head. This 1440-nozzle piezo head (8 lines of 180 nozzles) incorporates four colour sections, each divided in two nozzle rows with 360 nozzles per colour. As all colour sections are united in one head, there is no need for time-consuming head-to-head calibration procedures. The print head is capable of firing ink dots as small as 3.4 pl.

Mutoh DS2-series Universal Transfer Sublimation inks are 100 % VOC free and do not require any risk labelling. The inks offer excellent nozzle stability for high speed and high volume printing and will produce perfect image sharpness and definition. The Mutoh DS2 inks are odourless both during the printing and the transfer process. They offer a wide gamut with bright and vibrant colours and furthermore give you comfortable light, washing and perspiration fastness properties.

Mutoh Dye & Pigmented CMYK water-based VOC free inks offer a wide colour gamut, superior line output and sharp edges, ideal for high quality poster printing. Whereas the Mutoh dye based inks are suited for interior prints, Mutoh pigmented inks are ideal for long-term indoor graphics as well as for short term outdoor applications.

Industrial Head Technology

The Osprey 130 incorporates six 256 nozzle Spectra^® industrial strength drop-on-demand print heads, specifically developed for true solvent-based ink applications. Available resolutions are 180 dpi, 360 dpi and 720 dpi.

High Speed Solvent Inks

Depending on the required outdoor durability, the user can choose between 2 ink types. Both solvent-based inks offer the possibility to print directly onto standard uncoated PVC and banner materials. The inks offer a wide colour gamut and will make your prints look brilliant and bright. Moreover, production costs are extremely low !

The high speed solvent-based double density inks (C, M, Y, K, Lc, Lm) dry quickly, resulting in higher printing speeds. The inks are delivered in 3.25 liter bottles per colour. Because solvent-based double densityinks are waterproof and highly abrasion and UV resistant, printed images can last outdoors for up to 5 years*, without lamination**, even on low cost materials.

The affordable solvent-based Value inks (C, M, Y, K, Lc, Lm) are delivered in 3 liter bottles per colour. Solvent-based Valueinks are waterproof and highly abrasion and UV resistant. Printed images can last outdoors for up to 3 years*, without lamination**, even on low cost materials.

** : For heavy-duty applications where mechanical stress is involved (floor & vehicle graphics), media manufacturers will always recommend lamination. Prior to lamination, stabilisation time is required.

The Osprey 130 also supports an electronically addressable 720 dpi high density mode, an excellent tool to print onto substrates requiring abnormally high ink loads (5.9 m²/h).

Media Versatility

The incorporated RIP controlled head height adjustment feature (adustable in 0.5 mm steps from 2.5 up to 4.5 mm) allows a wide media compatibility. Coated pressure rollers with variable down-pressure allow loading of a wide range of uncoated PVC and banner materials (thickness up to 1 mm).

The incorporated fully motorised heavy-duty media unwinding/winding system, capable of handling loads up to 140 kg, allows unattended printing and makes sure the Osprey is ready to handle volume production.

Media Acclimatisation

The Osprey has two incorporated heating elements, one for media acclimatisation before printing and the other one for post-conditioning of prints, making it possible to reach higher printing speeds and allowing efficient drying and high print quality.

Maintenance-friendly

No special cleaning cycles are required. Powering off the printer is done in a minute: wet a sponge per print head, put it in the capping station and just close the capping station. As a result, ink can stay overnight in the print heads. Moreover, the next morning your Osprey printer is immediately ready for volume printing.

Bulk Ink System

Inks are stored in six 2000 ml bulk ink bottles, allowing long autonomy and unattended printing. The bottles are stored in the Osprey’s extendable ink tray system which is fully integrated inside the machine’s body. This will allow the user to refill bottles neatly and conveniently, even whilst printing.
